Domaine de Puyguiller
Segonzac, Charente, France
Petit-Château for sale in the heart of
Grande Champagne cognac region of France
Domaine de Puyguiller lies at the end of a private avenue of chestnut trees, to one side of the small hamlet of Puyguiller which consists of five other households, two of which have cognac distilleries. There is a secondary entrance to the property from the hamlet.
The estate is situated in the département of Charente (number 16) in the south west of France. The town of Segonzac, the capital of Grande Champagne Cognac is 4.5km away, with the town of Cognac (Remy Martin, Hennessy, Baron Otard, Martell and Camus) 18km away and Jarnac (Courvoisier, Hine, Louis Royer and Delamain) 13km away.
The nearest international airport is at Bordeaux (110km away/ 1 hour 30 minutes by car); Poitiers airport is 110km away and Paris less than 500km away (under 5 hours by car).
Puyguiller is situated in undulating Charentais countryside, surrounded by cognac-producing vineyards and some woodland. The property is in the very heart of the area designated for the best and most valuable Grande Champagne cognac vineyards. The 5.25 hectare property includes an area of slightly more than 1 hectare that until recently supported a cognac vineyard; with a renewed right to plant, that area could be potentially replanted. There is ample space to land a helicopter and obvious scope for a landing-strip for a light plane.
The Charente river is never far away and many of the local villages and towns have remarkable Romanesque churches and other buildings of architectural merit.
